Not all of the members at UCLan Equestrian compete, many are social riders who enjoy riding, want to learn or want to improve their ability. Lessons are placed every week and every rider has the opportunity to take part whether they compete or not. Lessons are based around improving their riding. Those just starting out in the equestrian world will also learn how to groom, tack up and general yard and school responsibilities. All members of UCLan Equestrian join together to help out and support their teammates at each home competition.
In March 2016 one of our team captains, Maddie, introduced the 'social riders competition' which meant that all members, no matter what riding level they were at, had the opportunity to take part in a competition and experience the excitement and the preparation and got a chance to dress up! This was made up of a dressage test suited to your ability and a jumping round catered to your level (and everyone got a rosette!). This is something which we intend on making a tradition within the club with one taking place every year.
